Vacancy: Chef or Cook

We have an opportunity for a Cook or Chef to join our catering team, with the responsibility for preparing and cooking high quality food for the golf club’s day-to-day and event customers. The Cook or Chef will work in the kitchen of the Clubhouse restaurant alongside other members of the catering team and front of house colleagues. The business is open to the general public alongside the Club’s members and visitors. 

Bondhay Golf Club is a privately owned golf club situated at the meeting point of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, and boasts a range of quality facilities including an 18 hole championship course, 9 hole academy course, putting green and driving range. The catering department primarily serves golfing customers and societies on a daily basis, but also regularly caters for events such as parties, weddings and other occasions. 

Whilst the ideal candidate will come from a previous catering background or qualifications, we are open to candidates from all backgrounds as long as suitable cooking skills can be showcased. The business will support any candidates with essential qualifications such as food hygiene. 

Roles & Responsibilities

This role reports directly to the Clubhouse Manager. Bondhay is not a committee/members owned Club. 

Hours of Work & Contract

The employment is on a 20+ hour contract. The role requires flexible working across weekdays and weekends with shift patterns confirmed up to a month in advance. Weekend availability is a must and you may be required to work Bank Holidays from time-to-time. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, more hours are available in the spring, summer and autumn months. 

The kitchen, as standard, is staffed from 09:00 until 17:00 on weekdays and 07:00 to 17:00 on weekends, but customer numbers, pre-booked groups and events may dictate changes to these hours. 

Salary is minimum wage or National Living Wage, but we will give fair consideration to candidates with experience and qualifications. Overtime is payable at the standard rate of pay. 

The post-holder is entitled to statutory sick-pay arrangements and will be enrolled in the Government pension scheme.

The business regularly supports learning and training opportunities for all of our employees. 

There will be a three month probationary period.

Chef or Cook Job Application

Vacancy: Greenkeeper (Seasonal / Temp)

We have an exciting opportunity for a greenkeeper to join our team on a temporary basis, with the responsibility for preparing and maintaining the courses and facilities for our members and visitors. The successful candidate will join a team of 6+ with plenty of possibilities for training and CPD whilst on the job and with recognised providers. 

Bondhay Golf Club is a privately owned golf club situated at the meeting point of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, and boasts a range of facilities including an 18 hole championship course, 9 hole academy course, putting green and state-of-the-art Trackman driving range which was newly installed in 2023. 

Whilst the ideal applicant will come from a role of similar experience, we welcome applications from candidates that do not have prior greenkeeping experience. No specific qualifications are required, but greenkeeping related certifications are desirable where applicable.

Roles & Responsibilities

The greenkeeper will work alongside the wider Greens Team to maintain both courses and practice facilities to the highest standards. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

This role reports directly to the Head Greenkeeper who in turn reports to the Management Team. Bondhay is not a committee/members owned Club. 

Hours of Work & Contract

You will be employed on a full-time basis, contracted to 37.5 hours per week for an initial three months. The role is primarily weekday based, with the requirement to work periodic weekends (on a monthly shift basis) so that relevant preparations and tasks can be completed for weekend golfers and competitions. 

Due to the seasonal nature of the role, the start and finish times of your shift may change during the course of the year to account for daylight hours. A typical summer shift is 06:00 to 14:00 and winter 07:00 to 15:00. 

Salary starts at minimum wage but is dependent on experience. The role carries opportunities for overtime when the needs of the business/course allows, at the standard rate of pay. Employees are not obligated to work overtime. 

The post-holder is entitled to statutory sick-pay arrangements and will be enrolled in the Government pension scheme.

A probation period does not apply due to the temporary nature of the employment.
