The summer golf season well and truly got underway today, Saturday 15 June, as the first major of the year teed off at Bondhay Golf Club. The Men’s Open is the first of four taking place this year with the All Sections Open coming up in July, a second Men’s Open in August and the Christmas Mixed in December. Teams from across the region and beyond battled it out on the challenging Devonshire Course for their share of a respectable prize pot totalling £1,200.
Without further ado, here are the results for the Men’s Open Am-Am:
1st: S Wagstaffe, M Laver, J Wragg, M Riley | 119 points
2nd: P Longley, C Bowler, G Argent, A McColl | 97 points
3rd: G Boot, J Cheetham, R Cheetham, S Edmundson | 95 points
4th: A Marples, M Highfield, S Highfield, N Highfield | 93 points
5th: R Riley, A Blakemoore, P Lenzan, J Plowecki | 91points
Best visiting team not in the prizes was made up of R Osbourne, N Roberts, S Smith, B March who scored a respectable 85 points.
